2. Don’t bite off more than you can chew
The most important thing you can do is to learn how to delegate. This may sound like an obvious point, but it’s one that many entrepreneurs fail to follow through on. Don’t try to do everything yourself; focus on what you are good at and find the right people who will help get the job done. Learn how to say no when necessary–the best way I’ve found is by saying “yes” with an explanation as opposed to just saying no outright!
3. Know when to quit
When you’re not making progress, it’s a good idea to quit. When you’re in over your head and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, it’s time to move on. If stress is taking its toll on your health or relationships, there’s no reason why you should continue working on something that isn’t going anywhere–and even if it does eventually get off the ground, being stressed out for months or years can cause long-term damage to both body and mind. Finally, if you have a better idea than what currently occupies all of your time (and energy), then go for it!
4. Build a strong team
It’s important to build a team that is aligned with your vision and can execute on it. The best way to do this is by hiring people who have already done something similar, or at least have experience in the field. If you don’t have anyone like that in your company, then look outside of it. There are plenty of freelance sites where you can find professionals with the skills needed for your project at reasonable rates (e.g., Upwork).
One thing I learned through experience: it’s better not to hire someone who doesn’t fit well into the culture of your startup because they may end up being more trouble than they’re worth. You’ll spend more time trying to manage their performance than focusing on building up the business itself!
5. Stay focused on the big picture
Staying focused on the big picture can be hard. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and lose sight of what you’re trying to accomplish.
You want to make sure that you don’t get distracted by other things, so it helps if you have a clear goal or vision for your company. If there are too many goals floating around, it’ll be hard for anyone else on your team (or even yourself) to know where they should focus their efforts.

- When deciding whether or not to take on a client, always consider whether it will be beneficial for the business in the long run–and if the answer is no, then don’t do it! Even if they offer you money now (which they probably won’t), there are plenty of other clients out there who will pay more down the line because they recognize how valuable your services are.
- In addition to charging more money than some other people would charge in order to ensure that they get their money’s worth from working with you as opposed to another service provider offering similar services at lower rates but lower quality output overall due mostly due lack experience/knowledge base needed required skill set needed etc…this advice also applies equally well when determining whether or not accept certain jobs offered by potential clients; sometimes saying no means saying yes later down road when circumstances change unexpectedly favorably later on down road 🙂
